The Gaspé Coast Health and Social Services Centre comprises seven separate establishments in five different locations, namely Gaspé, Grande Vallée, Murdochville, Percé and Rivière au-Renard. All are connected to the health and social services telecommunications network (RTSS). IT infrastructure includes 28 servers, 328 workstations and several specialized software applications.

In the fall of 2006, within the framework of a project involving implementation of electronic patient files, Gaspé Coast Health and Social Services Centre issued a request for proposals. The Purkinje-Trigonix solution was the one selected and GTI Canada was commissioned to implement the technology infrastructure. Upstream of implementation, GTI Canada assisted the Centre’s technical personnel with the migration of operating systems.

In the service offer, GTI proposed the following three-step process:

  • IT infrastructure audit. This prerequisite was necessary to satisfy two technology-related challenges: migration from an NT4 environment to a Windows 2003 environment, and assessment of the compatibility of of the DPE-DPI solution with systems in place in the various establishments.
  •    Setup. Implementation of recommendations put forward following the audit.
  •    Implementation and training of users.

Step 1 having been completed, the team’s flexibility, precision and know how were apparent from the outset:

  • Flexibility. As work progressed, the team seamlessly incorporated new requests which were not directly linked to deployment of the solution.
  • Precision. Recommendations were based on two possible scenarios and a series of consultations with Purkinje and other stakeholders, including customer management software developers.
  • Know-how. Recommendations demonstrated complete mastery of each of the proposed technologies.

With Step 2 nearing completion, we have every confidence about moving ahead with Step 3, an attitude which speaks volumes about our level of satisfaction with GTI.
