Optech: A New Managed Services Mandate for GTI

A collegial centre for technology transfer in optics and photonics, Optech mandated GTI to take charge of its IT infrastructure, address specific and persistent issues with its computer network and thus establish a strategic plan for its optimization.

IT Infrastructure Takeover

In taking charge of the IT infrastructure, first goal was to solve a certain number of issues considered priorities by the organisation. Evolving in a particular environment (affiliation with many collegial partners, located in a collegial premises), Optech must deal with the fact that parts of its infrastructure are shared with André-Laurendeau CEGEP. This cohabitation creates various issues, for instance when it comes to available technological options that ensure the infrastructure effectiveness. During the takeover, GTI managed services experts also fully documented the infrastructure in place. This exercise ensures optimum support for users both by the onsite technician and offsite team.

Current Situation and Continuation of Mandate

Documenting the current situation will be an important input for the ongoing mandate. When realized, this first step will provide all the necessary information to complete an in-depth analysis of the installation. It will then allow to establish recommendations and implement of an IT strategic planning. Optech might ask for GTI’s expertise, in the near future, for new mandates concerning supply of its IT equipment and outsourcing of its IT infrastructure. The partnership between Optech and GTI was launched in early July.
