A new IT infrastrucutre

A GTI client since 2014, Orage is a Montreal-born company founded in 1989. Specialized in adult and junior ski apparel, they offer a range of three-season outdoor clothing. Through their distinctive style and unique concept, Orage clothing stands out and attracts all types of active individuals, from amateurs to world-renowned athletes. Led by its founders from their Montreal headquarters, the organization boasts about 20 employees and distributes to over 2,500 retail outlets worldwide.

ORAGE’S CHALLENGE

To enroll the services of a consulting firm specialized in information technology to ensure adequate continuity and fluidity of our IT operations during the demerger from the Coalision company. Indeed, regaining control of the Orage ski apparel brand in 2013, we have had to rebuild our IT infrastructure and move into a new location. We called on GTI to accompany and assist us during this transition. The thoroughness and expertise of their teams of specialists – in relocation project management and consulting among others – gave us access to quick and efficient solutions, tailored to the reality of our business and perfectly meeting our needs.

Establishing a new IT infrastructure and managing the transition in collaboration with the internal team of Coalision team

The team of experts at GTI took on the creation, coordination, and implementation of our new IT network. Practically, this meant:

• Selection and implementation of an optimal infrastructure:
  • Virtual Windows servers using VMWare technology to support a hybrid MAC and PC network
  • High-level performance switches and wireless access points
  • IT security equipment such as firewalls and antivirus solutions
  • Network storage solutions to support backup and archiving

• Choice of an IP telephone provider

• Choice of a structured cable provider

• Project management and coordination of various IT stakeholders such as the contractor, cable installer, internet provider, VOIP provider, etc.

• Configuration and remodelling of the chosen infrastructure, including optimizing backup through virtualization and tools such as Acronis (local and remote backup)

• Collaboration with the Coalision IT team to ensure transition and migration of their infrastructure data to Orage’s without loss of data and in particular with an insignificant impact on resource productivity

• Documentation of the IT environment

GTI has since then been responsible for the periodic maintenance and upgrading of our IT network and has ensured the quality of relationships with our suppliers and subcontractors. Through their acute understanding of our issues and business priorities, GTI has accompanied us through a thought process aimed at discovering new solutions to optimize our IT infrastructure.

THE RESULTS

From a pressing need was born a partnership with GTI that has allowed us to have constant access to IT expertise that meets to address any and all issues that may arise, allowing us to focus on our business activities and giving us peace of mind.

Having handed the implementation of our new infrastructure to GTI, we were able to achieve a smooth transition and maintain good relationships with Coalision and with our providers. The fluidity with which the installation was carried out and the attribution of dedicated team of specialists to our account allowed us to maintain the efficiency of our daily IT activities while reducing our costs.
