It\u2019s also a great way to make customer presentations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7358 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gticanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Cover-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1236\" height=\"830\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The prototyping functions offered by Figma are a fantastic way to quickly get customer feedback.<\/p>\n<p>During some customer presentations, I encountered an important problem: Figma memory is sometimes insufficient. In fact, two types of occurrences impact the navigation during the start of the animated prototype:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The prototype turns completely black,<\/li>\n<li>Shortly after Figma opens, a message appears via a pop-up stating that the memory is insufficient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I then became Interested In the different ways to fix it and get a fluid prototype. We are now going to discuss 3 issues that greatly improve Figma performance.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>1 \u2013 Avoiding Hidden Layers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If a component uses a lot of hidden layers, a Figma file can potentially be associated with millions of objects, and that inevitably contributes to exhausting its memory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our advice?<\/strong> Create several different components.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7443 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gticanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Group-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1086\" height=\"784\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>2 &#8211; Compress your Images<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>In my opinion, the speed of the prototype is mainly impacted by the images&#8217; weight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In HD quality and in large dimensions, Images can take up a lot of memory. Since Figma does not have any plugins for optimizing images, I personally went through Photoshop and its &#8220;Optimize for the web&#8221; functionality and then reimported the images into Figma. With this manipulation done, we can really feel the difference.<\/p>\n<p>Another tip: Figma offers a tool that Indicates the resources consumed by each item. Thanks to this functionality, you can quickly judge if your file is too large.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7445 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gticanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NO-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1086\" height=\"608\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00ad\u00ad<\/strong><strong>3- Use of an External Library<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To gain RAM, it is good practice to have two files:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A library of all components,<\/li>\n<li>A file made up of all the models without the components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this second file, we authorize the external library via the assets board. Using an external library is a very good practice within the framework of design systems (when several files communicate with the same component file).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7444 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gticanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NO-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1086\" height=\"608\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00ad\u00ad<\/strong><strong>4- Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Figma can be used like <em>Invision<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, it is necessary to optimize your Figma file to avoid memory problems.<\/p>\n<p>To summarize:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid large images or large vector files,<\/li>\n<li>Avoid hidden layers in the components, as they lead RAM overconsuming,<\/li>\n<li>Promote an external library of components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Figma is a tool for designing and prototyping digital experiences.
