Protecting your data when using the Office 365 ecosystem

Developed for both personal and business use, Office 365 is an invaluable productivity and collaboration tool. Features are numerous and include ease of collaboration, facilitation of remote work, scalability and reduction of investment expenses. Office 365 makes every effort to guarantee application and user data security. However, given the extent of security threats ranging from malware, data leaks and issues of unauthorized access, the platform cannot be deemed entirely secure.

Did you know that Microsoft 365 is the platform most targeted by cybercriminals the world over? That said, you can protect yourself against potential threats through a dedicated detection and protection service.

With remote work and cloud computing increasingly part of business culture, SME’s must make critical choices in terms of cybersecurity when digitizing operations. Adoption of a comprehensive security strategy is therefore an absolute necessity.

We recommend that you restrict connections solely to countries in which you have active resources. You can do so by implementing an access policy based on geographic filters. Accordingly, only individuals in countries deemed relevant to your operations will be authorized to connect to your systems.

Mais est-ce qu’il s’agit d’une protection ultime?

But does this strategy guarantee the ultimate in protection?

Unfortunately, no! The policy does, however, limit your exposure while complicating the task for cybercriminals. Action applies to all services, including but not limited to the following:  Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.

When planning a trip abroad, advise your IT manager so that he or she might temporarily authorize access from the region in which you will be travelling.
