IT management and improvement

A client of GTI since 1998, the Association des chirurgiens dentistes du Québec studies, defends and develops the professional, economic, social and moral interests of its members.

THE ACDQ'S CHALLENGE

According to Hélène Guinois, Director of Administrative Services Simplify IT processing to manage the product / service offer This challenge leads us to:
  • Work with a team of versatile and innovative IT specialists
  • Prioritizing and harmonizing the design and implementation of solutions required by each organization
GTI offers the range of services and experts that we need. The Managed Services team manages and upgrades our IT infrastructure on a daily basis, while its Software Solutions counterpart intervenes from time to time to enhance, improve or update our management software.

GTI ’S CONTRIBUTION

Protecting the integrity, accessibility, availability and confidentiality of data while improving the performance of our software. In 2001, the infrastructure for our three business units – the ACDQ, the SSD (ACDQ Inc.) and Sogedent Insurance Inc. – was outsourced to GTI. Fulfilled by the Managed Services team, this mandate includes three critical aspects for our organisations:
  • The first is to ensure the network’s reliability at all times through daily preventive monitoring and regular and proactive on-site interventions in conjunction with an investment plan based on the three organizations’ business plans.
  • The second is to assist managers in improving our business practices such as the development, along with the Sogedent Insurance team, of the Disaster recovery plan as required by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).
  • The third is to advise managers on the optimization of IT investments through the establishment of business practices such as implementing an automated remote backup solution and the establishment of an appropriate environment for a document digitization system.
Since 1998, the Software Solutions team developed and improved several solutions that allowed us to increase the performance of our systems and to better outfit and support our members and teams:
  • The optimization of the members management solutions enabling several new features such as:
    • Record of members’ past contributions
    • A module for managing recipient groups
    • Features to manage members’ cabinets and data entry by batch
    • Conversion of the solution to FileMaker 8.5 and then to FileMaker 14
  • Payment management for SSD: solution allowing to compile data from insurers and to generate the payment of dentists’ fees, either by cheque or direct deposit. This solution, developed on the Servoy platform, manages millions of transactions.
  • A Web service, linked to the FileMaker solutions, for third party information verification.
  • A function to transfer information from members to the ACDQ website’s private section
  • A function to transfer information from members, sending it from the FileMaker solution to a Web portal using SOAP

THE RESULTS

Benefiting from the advantages of optimal IT solutions while keeping a reasonable limit on our investments. The ACDQ, SSD (ACDQ Inc.) and Sogedent Insurance Inc. were able to make the most of a coordinated approach to a solution to meet the needs of a multifunctional environment. ’’ Three organizations with one objective:  to develop a relevant and effective product /service offer by implementing any innovations that may increase the performance of our information technology (IT) system.  Since 2001, the GTI team has supported us by managing and upgrading a complex technology environment that requires the partitioning of each organization’s data and the pooling of email and backup services.’’ Hélène Guinois, Director of Administrative Services Visit acdq.qc.ca
