FileMaker Developer Conference 2016: Day 1
Our colleague Jocelyn Ostiguy, Project manager and analyst, is currently in Las Vegas to represent GTI at the FileMaker Developer Conference 2016. Having an extensive experience with the platform, it is however his first participation at this event.
Here are his first impressions and the highlights of the opening day.
FileMaker Developer Conference 2016 : a well-established event
The first day was largely devoted to the registration of some 1,500 participants and for training sessions for newcomers to the platform. To facilitate their participation, FileMaker has even developed an application called DevCon2Go allowing, among others, to plan the sessions you want to attend and learn about the different speakers. A well-designed and easy to use tool!
VIP Activity for FileMaker Business Alliance members
In evening, Jocelyn was invited to an event for FileMaker Business Alliance partners, to which GTI is a Platinum member. Open to members of Montreal and Toronto, it was the opportunity to do networking with other professionals on different perspectives and issues. As he noticed at his arrival and through the day, this is where the term FileMaker community takes on its full meaning.
Keynote Highlights
The highlight of the first day was of course the evening keynote where we learned the three major aspects of FileMaker vision for the upcoming years:
- Significantly increase its visibility and accessibility by taking advantage of the Apple brand, which FileMaker is a subsidiary;
- Focus on mobile apps;
- Focus on custom apps.
To conclude this first day in style, all attendees were invited to a reception in one of the Cosmopolitan ballrooms specially arranged for the occasion.
