IRSST: development of an interactive calculation tool to prevent falls from a height

The Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) recently developed a tool based on a methodology for calculating the dimensions of horizontal lifeline systems (HLS). This interactive calculation allows fall protection equipment designers to more easily define these systems with only a few variables.

To promote the use of this tool on a larger scale, the Communications and Knowledge Transfer Division of IRSST wanted to develop an interactive web tutorial.

Successful collaboration

Having already worked with MultipleMedia on the support tool for choosing respiratory protection against bioaerosols, it was natural for the IRSST to turn to the same team for the development of this new project.

The application developed on a .NET platform, in MVC (model view controller) is connected to a MySQL database, in order to manage its settings more easily. While generating a PDF report on demand allows the user to retain their data, the responsive web interface developed in HTLM5 broadens the microsite’s accessibility at all times (even when a computer is not available at the height).

MultipleMedia also designed the branding for the tool through an attractive logo and user-friendly design that suits every device.

Enhanced expertise

The development of this tutorial was an opportunity for MultipleMedia’s team to consolidate their knowledge of scientific applications. The team once again confirmed its ability to understand customer needs and to lead this complex project by adapting to the client’s reality at every stage. This partnership with IRSST is proof of MultipleMedia’s versatility to achieve a wide range of web projects.
