A Centralized Cloud Solution for this Operational Multi-site Company

Thanks to a shared cloud infrastructure, the company avoids having to acquire two separate systems and benefits from a centralized and scalable solution that will facilitate the integration of new clinics in the event of future acquisitions.

The company

Our client is a Quebec-based SME founded in 1994 that develops innovative technological solutions in a number of fields, including healthcare, real estate and communications. Today, the company employs nearly 300 people across different divisions and owns a network of medical clinics.

The context

GTI is responsible for outsourcing IT management for two of the client’s clinics.

Once a year, an annual plan with an IT budget is presented to plan technological investments for the coming year, seize development opportunities and ensure data security.

The needs

The two clinics’ servers were reaching the end of their useful lives, and it became essential to find an optimal solution to replace the hardware.

The client wanted to reduce the size of its IT environment, facilitate the expansion of its activities and stay up to date with the latest technology.

Our approach

We had two choices: renew each clinic’s physical servers or opt for a centralized solution, offering a single platform for all current and future clinics.

We prepared a five-year business case and opportunity study, comparing the investments required and the benefits of replacing the physical servers with a cloud-hosting solution.

Our project plan included planning, hardware and software estimates, and hosting costs. The second part of the opportunity study consisted in evaluating the fees associated with preparing, migrating and supporting the client during a transition to cloud computing, ensuring a turnkey project with no surprises.

For the client, which wanted to reduce its dependence on physical servers and opt for technological solutions that would facilitate its growth, the choice was clear!

The project

The client opted for an Azure multiservice cloud infrastructure, a platform developed by Microsoft that gives businesses and organizations access to a full range of IT services, including storage, hosting and virtual server management.

This new environment was configured in parallel with the existing system to avoid any disruption to clinic services and ensure a smooth migration.

From the preparatory phase, to setting up the server, deploying and migrating the clinics, right through to quality control, the mandate was carried out over a period of one month.

The outcome

The creation of a single, centralized infrastructure brings many advantages to the client.

In addition to improving the security of its data, the system allows for the standardization of IT practices across the client’s clinics. Centralization makes it easier for managers to access data from the various clinics and guarantees service availability in the event of an outage in a clinic or at the level of the network equipment.

Our scalable solution also enables the client to consider any expansion or new acquisitions more effectively.

Following the success of this project, the client decided to migrate a third clinic, which was also facing the prospect of needing to renew its physical equipment. Thanks to the capabilities offered by the Azure system we were able to easily integrate the existing infrastructure.

“Having a trusted partner like GTI allows us not only to stay on the cutting edge of technology, but also to get closer to our business objectives. The expertise of the GTI team is always accompanied by a perfect understanding of our needs,” states the client’s CEO.
